It’s New Years Day. Welcome 2021! We’re ready for newness. We’re weary of the old that’s weighed us down in 2020. GOOD NEWS!!! There’s a much greater newness than just passing through the new year!
The moment I gave myself to God I transformed, I morphed, I mutated, I converted, I remodeled, I revolutionized into something NEW!! I was no longer who I was before. It was the most incredible experience of freedom, burdens lifted, love and peace. No desire to return to the old existed.
I look forward to the building, the home God has prepared for me, a house not built by humans! I cannot even fathom! All the eyesores in my earthly home will be gone. All the aches in my body gone. All the pain will be a thing of the past!!!
I’m still in stage 1: living in the morphed condition having surrendered to God and vowed to walk in Gods ways. Stage 2 awaits me. I’m not there yet but it’s where I belong. C. S. Lewis describes this experience of becoming new very well:
“God became man to turn creatures into sons: not simply to produce better men of the old kind but to produce a new kind of man. It is not like teaching a horse to jump better and better but like turning a horse into a winged creature. Of course, once it has got its wings, it will soar over fences which could never have been jumped and thus beat the natural horse at its own game. But there may be a period, while the wings are just beginning to grow, when it cannot do so: and at that stage the lumps on the shoulders—no one could tell by looking at them that they are going to be wings—may even give it an awkward appearance” (Mere Christianity).
Can others see my wings? Are they just small buds or maybe sometimes I’m flying??? One thing I do know: I’m not what I used to be. God has freed me from the desire to sin. Sin entangles, separates and destroys. Step away my friend and begin a life of newness where you’re not what you were. You’re new! Begin stage 1 awaiting eternity in your perfect home where the greatest fulfillment awaits you! God longs to morph you, transform you and love you like you’ve never imagined. Reach out, confess your sin, surrender your life and become a new creation! It’s where life begins, abundant life. What a gift! every day is a new day. Every moment an opportunity to fly. The choice is yours: remain as you are or become new by the very hand of God.
