Devotional Thoughts: Ambassador of Jesus

Gratitude might be the best medication to see us through these times. No matter who we are or where we find ourselves there’s so many things to be grateful for. This verse in Colossians reminds us that we believers represent Jesus in word and deed as we live out our lives. Others can see God in us or not. Living a life of gratitude can have a profound effect on those around us.

I’m grateful for what I have and I acknowledge that what I have doesn’t even belong to me. It’s God’s and I should be willing to use it for good. Good words and good deeds. I’m reminded today there’s a bare minimum I need to survive. A previous foster daughter will come back today for a short time and we’ll help her stand on her own two feet. She had 3 jobs but now has none because of layoffs from COVID 19 closings.

It’s so easy to focus on the negative. I can easily allow terrible things to overcome me and get me off track. Injustices can consume my every thought and propel me into anger. This world is broken and I can only make a difference among those I have influence over. And if I have any influence it’s only because the Holy Spirit resides within me. The only good in me is God. I still can choose my own way today but this verse is an excellent reminder I represent Jesus in what I say and do. I pray God will use me to draw others towards Himself.
