Devotional Thoughts: Old & New

Old is worn out, less functional, irrelevant and gone. When someone gives their life to God all is made new. Everything changes. Nothing is the same. We are mutants, humankind inhabited by the Divine, never again to be as we were before: separated from God.

People call all of mankind God’s children. Not so! All of mankind is God’s creation but we are not God’s children until we give God ourselves, confess our sin and receive forgiveness and newness of life. Committing to follow God and walk in God’s ways changes everything. Everything is seen in a different light. It’s as if a window of knowledge and wisdom opened up in my mind. I stepped into a new world but am still here in the same place but in another dimension.

The enemy reminds us of our old selves, the past, our sin and selfishness. We have to remember who we are as new creations. I’m no longer who I was. I need to remember the words of Psalm 103:11-12: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

The old has gone, the new has come! The more we live like this and walk in God’s ways the more new creations will appear. Multiplication is natural because this is contagious!
