Devotional Thoughts: Hope

So much depression and suicide in our communities! As a foster parent experiences with the teens I cared for taught me how to gauge whether or not someone needed to be in a mental health facility. Expressing no hope and having a detailed plan to end one’s life are two indicators someone needed a safe environment where they could get help. I’m not a mental health professional but I have walked with several teens through seasons of no hope.

Hope. What a beautiful word! If someone can express hope we know they are not in danger of ending their own life. God’s plan for us is to abound in hope, not to be overcome with darkness and despair. Where does Hope come from? Hope is good and God is the giver of all good things. Along with this gift of hope comes joy and peace. These cannot be purchased by the richest on earth! These things are priceless and God desires to give them to us! Reach out to God and trust He loves you. He will see you through another day. May God gift us all with hope, peace and joy and may we abound in each one!

Step out of darkness and into the Light. There is hope for all who dwell on the face of the earth, yes, each one!
