Devotional Thoughts: Death & Fear

This verse makes my heart sing! I could and should name to God one hundred things I’m thankful for, but the one I’m grateful for the most is the victory I have in Jesus! What is this victory? Red what comes before these verses:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:54-56‬ ‭ESV‬‬

One of the strangest things God does when He makes us a new creation; God literally morphs us into something else and our fear of death is removed. It sounds crazy, I know! Death might be the greatest fear humans have and those who make movies make a lot of money off this fear. We spend tremendous amounts of money protecting our family and belongings with alarm systems, fences, cameras etc… even my church has an elaborate system to prevent crimes and shootings.

Because I gave my life to God years ago I do not fear death. You too can have this great gift our Father gives. I know the work I do for God is not in vain. If I am immovable like verse 58 says it’s only because God granted me that.

Christian, keep pressing on. Your reward is great! Thanks be to God! My work here matters, thanks be to God! We have victory over sin and death, thanks be to God! Our job today is to be immovable and steadfast, come what may, in this sinful world. Bad things happening shouldn’t even surprise us! It’s the fruit of this world. Yes it hurts tremendously but we are not crushed by it. God sustains and even takes crap and uses it for good sometimes! The enemy thinks he’s winning, but God uses his blow to strengthen us and do beautiful things for God’s Kingdom.

We do not belong here my friends. If you love it here an assessment of your heart and soul is needed. You’re on the wrong track. It’s time to love God more. Repent for death will come, that’s for sure. But when it comes I’m ready, are you?
